Mary Hennen, the Collections Assistant in the Bird Division of The Field Museum. The Field Museum has lots of specimens of all kinds of animals. The kids got to look at and touch some of the birds. Some of the specimens are of animals that are extinct, this is the only way scientist can see and touch them.

The Field Museum also has skeletons of lots of different animals. To prepare the skeletons, they use bugs that eat the skin and muscles and stuff off of the bones!

Mary Hennen told the ISNN Kid Reporters that we can help protect animals in the wild "if everyone does one little thing then combined it will make a difference. Find your thing, if you like planting trees or volunteering with animals or cleaning up trash in your neighborhood then you can do that to help."
