CONVERSIONS
For converting temperatures there are formulas that you can use. That way
you can figure out how warm or cold it is in places where they use a different
system than what you use at home.
In Germany, the metric system is used. So, when you talk about temperature,
you talk about it in terms of Celsius. In the United States, Fahrenheit
is used when talking about temperature.
CELSIUS TO FAHRENHEIT
(C*9) / 5 + 32 = F
Your temperature in degrees Celsius and multiply it by 9, then, when you
have that figured out, you take that number and divide it by 5, then you
add 32 to that number and you have got the temperature in Fahrenheit. Here
is an example of how it works: Let's say it's 25 degrees Celsius and you
know what that is in Fahrenheit. 25 times 9 = 225 divided by 5 = 45 then
add 32 = 77. So, 25 degrees Celsius = 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
FAHRENHEIT TO CELSIUS
F-32 * 5/9=C
(your temperature in Fahrenheit, minus 32 then multiply that number by
5, then divide that by 9 and you will have the temperature in Celsius.
CONVERTING MILES TO KILOMETERS
1 mile = 1.6 Kilometers
100 miles = 160 kilometers
1000 miles = 1600 Kilometers
CONVERTING KILOMETERS TO MILES
Divide the number of kilometers by 1.6.
Example: 120km/1.6 = 75. So, if you're from the United States or the United
Kingdom (where they don't use the metric system either) and you went to
Germany and you were driving on the Autobahn with your parents and the
speed was posted, you could use this conversion to figure out how fast
your Mom or Dad should be driving.
