This is the American flag. It is red, white and blue and has 50 stars,
each one representing one of the fifty states that make up The United States.

Milwaukee, as you can see is located in the northern hemisphere on the
north American continent. It's 43 degrees latitude north of the equator
and 88 degrees longitude west of the Greenwich meridian. The equator divides
the earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere (North
Pole and South Pole). The Greenwich meridian slices the world into eastern
and western halves passing through the North and South Poles and a town
called Greenwich, just outside of London, England (which is where the Greenwich
meridian got it's name).

Wisconsin (WI), is one of the east, north-central states of America.
Two of the Great Lakes touch Wisconsin. Lake Superior to the north and
Lake Michigan to the east. To the west, the great Mississippi River separates
Wisconsin from the states of Iowa and Minnesota.
Milwaukee is a city of 1,400,000 people located on the shores of Lake
Michigan, about 85 miles / 140 kilometers north of Chicago, Illinois. Milwaukee
is really cold in winter and really hot in the summer. Winter temperatures
can go to -20 degrees Fahrenheit / -28 degrees Celsius and in summer, it
can get to 100 degrees Fahrenheit / 40 degrees Celsius.
Milwaukee has a big harbor and vessels come from all over the world.
From the Atlantic Ocean, ships come up the St. Lawrence waterway and then
go through a series of locks to enter the Great Lakes. Then, it only takes
a few days to reach Milwaukee unless they stop along the way (at places
like Toronto, Canada which is on Lake Ontario or Buffalo, New York on Lake
Erie or Cleveland, Ohio which is also on Lake Erie). If the ships are picking
up cargo in Milwaukee, one of the things they might be loading on board
could be the really cool Harley Davidson Motor Cycles that are built in
Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is an Indian word meaning meeting of the waters. This is where
several rivers entered Lake Michigan. Indians had settled in Milwaukee
long before the Europeans built the city of Milwaukee. Unfortunately, not
many artifacts or other signs of the Indians remain in Milwaukee except
for its name.
