Jackaroo, Jillaroo................................... Station hands. People who work on cattle ranch or sheep ranch

Lamington........................................... Like a sponge cake, covered in chocolate icing then rolled in shredded coconut. These are often made at school and sold at bake sales to raise money.

mate................................................ buddy, friend

Nullanulla......................................... An aboriginal club used for hunting

outback............................................. the back country, the hinterlands, also, called the bush

Homey............................................... Somebody from England. Another expression is "Pome" which is an acronym for Prisoner Of Mother England. But this is not a nice expression.

ripper.............................................. Really good. Awesome!

Roo................................................. Abbreviation for kangaroo

Roobar.............................................. Lots of cars have these. It's kind of like a roll bar but it's mounted on the front of the car, above the bumper. They are supposed to protect the car and people inside in case you hit a kangaroo on the highway.

tea................................................. dinner or lunch

tucker.............................................. food

Quocka.............................................. An animal in the marsupial family, native to an island of the north-west coast of Australia.

Sticky beak......................................... Nosey (Don't be such a sticky beak...Don't be so nosey)

Unit................................................. An apartment.

weekender........................................... A cottage or shack where people go to spend their weekends.
