KidsCom Climate Change Message Board: Speak Out!

In the news - February 21, 2008

Scientists at the University of California have suggested that one method of combating Global Warming could involve engineering crops with shiny leaves that would reflect the sun's heat back into space. What do you think of this idea?
Other kids have said:

I think it's a cool idea. Just like mirrors it would reflect the sun's rays and save the plants like a shield. The suns rays will bounce off and go back to space where the plants won't have to deal with the heat the rays produce. The crops will still get sun but not to much. Just enough to save the crops and save us from starvation. We then won't have to deal with the food shortage in our world.

No, i think its a bad idea, we have damaged the earth enough as it is and now the last thing we need is for something unatural to be put into the ground so that new and different things can go wrong.

I am only a 4th grader so i think that we should try to get the animals that are in Global Warming spots and put them in a climate like the old homes
