KidsCom Climate Change Message Board: Speak Out!

In the news - June 12, 2007

In early June, the leaders of the top 8 industrial nations (including the United States) agreed on a goal to try to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by the year 2050.
If you could talk to our world leaders, what advice would you give them to reach this goal?
Other kids have said:

never give up keep your head high

I think you guys have good ideas and could save the planet, so speak up
- Billy - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I would say: try to think about how it can effect other people
- Kristen - Age: 8 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

to find all information first!!

- Tee - Age: 15 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

you should be patient and see what to do. learn to be patience and reduce prices of gases vegetables and other stuff
- Rahmeen - Age: 12 - From SAUDI ARABIA

To stop making gas prices so high, and to make more cars tht don't need much gas.
- Taylor - Age: 8 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

Well, for one thing, instead of paying 3 bucks for a gallon gas (which is polluting our air) we should have solar powered cars, it would save you money and clean the air. And we should put our waste some where eles besides the ocean. Poor fish!
- Bethany - Age: 15 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think that they should try hard to be a good leader to get their goal. They also have to be friendly and try to reach other people that wanted to request something about them and not to be angry if they do not like you because the people's opinion is always the best.
- Isaiah - Age: 11 - From PHILIPPINES

If you want to reach this goal never ever give up because if you do positively wil fail.
- Maheen - Age: 8 - From CANADA

Try to think about how it would change the world think how it would effect people from all over.
- Josephina - Age: 9 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think that I would tell them to stop planning about it and take action. Make laws preventing more damage to the ozone layer. Do something!
- Kari - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

always remember 2050 might seem a long time away but when you are working on something important enviormentally and important to you then you start to feel pressure. Just stay the three c's, calm cool and colected.
- Lindzey - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

It takes time and patience. So be patient.
- Colleen - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

well if you belive than you can do it
- Lauryn - Age: 9 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

well yea if it means saving our inviremont than do what you need to do to save it. so if it means cutting the greenhouse gas emmisions in half do it with pleasure. because if we do not do something now than for years on it could become worse.
- Shelby - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

i would tell them to do what they think is right. keep striding until you reach your goal. sometimes we screw up but you have to keep your head held high and keep striding for perfection.
- Willisha - Age: 7 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think it is a good idea to help the world alot, cause we do need it.
- Mary - Age: 9 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think that if these Greenhouse Gas Emissions are bad for the Environment, then by all means cut them in half by the year 2050. But if these emissions are good for the envioronment then they shouldn't be getting rid of so much of these gas emissions.
- Jared - Age: 15 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think we should share cars and use them less. Use the bus or ride a bike. Instead of your parents takeing you to school, ride the bus, walk or ride a bike.
- Mackenzie - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think they should put this on the news and maybe everyone try and help
- Lola - Age: 13 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

They need to stop it now when they think about it are oozone lair is going to crack when we least expect it thats going to kill everybody.
- Holt - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think that more money and effort should be put into creating cars that run on electricity.
- Slake - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think it is a great idea to help save the world just that little bit more
- Taylah - Age: 12 - From AUSTRALIA

I would tell them they should put this on the news so everybody can see what is happening and tell the world we need to stop!
- Emily - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

to try hard and do the best they could do and never give up no matter what goes wrong
- Michelle - Age: 8 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

try hard do whats right
- Brooke - Age: 9 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

It would be good if we could make cars run on veggie oil. One of my dads customers does that.
- Josh - Age: 8 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

To never give up. And that the reason to not give up, because no one wants to smell extra gas anywhere.
- Josh - Age: 8 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think that they should try to learn more since we don't know everything about it and see if it is even possible. It is the way our planet was made by God.
- Yariela - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

i would help stop the ozone layer but make the driveing age up to 18 years off age
- Rachel - Age: 10 - From NEW ZEALAND

I think that the world leaders shold let us talk and it would be so good. And I would ask them if they would change anything.
- Anne - Age: 14 - From AUSTRALIA

I think they should try harder every single day!
- Mariah - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

Well, I think that maybe you should offer more jobs and raise more money.

- Mollie - Age: 15 - From AUSTRALIA

I think Global warming is inportant, asspesialy to Antarctica. If we keep using global warmaing and green house gasses Antarctica will melt alot quicker than we expect.
- Fayth - Age: 11 - From AUSTRALIA

I think the leaders of the 8 industrail nations should help us with more stuff.
- Michael - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think that if they want to reach their goals they can listen to the people's plight on different areas e.g they need a new education minister because the one now is not up to their expectations.
- Takiesha - Age: 15 - From GUYANA

I think people should walk or ride a bike instead of driving cars and stuff like that
- Dani - Age: 12 - From UNITED KINGDOM

i think they should close some factories that makes not so important stuff.
- Ian - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

leave the rain forest alone stop cutting down trees we need to breath. make it a requirement to recycle all around the globe. make cars that dont run on good for nothing wasteing, polluting gas make them run on milk, fruits or vegitables instead ban smoking in high brush fire areas its killing our ozone layer. the health of this wonderful country and the citizens in it are on your hands think before you waste it.
- Kelcy - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I would tell them that they should not damage our wourld
- Vanneliz - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

itink dat we sould like ride bikes instead of cars i mean how hard can it be really?
- James - Age: 9 - From AUSTRIA

to develop a plan and make sure everyone agrees
- Huey - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

Walkig instead of driving won't kill you. Trust me, I'm a kid. Walking wil be my only option for a while. If a kid can walk to where he/she needs to go, so can adults.
- Laura - Age: 14 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

Think about all that gas in the green house killing endangred plants and animals I mean yeah we have a limmeted amount of gas but instead of wasting it make cars that don't have as much gas other wise, it just adds to all of this polution
- Holly - Age: 8 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

i think they should make smoking illegal and make cars that dont let out all these exhaust fumes if they do that then maybe the ozone layer wouldnt be so thin
- Jasmine - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

To make a law that you all have to drive electric cars. That way oil won;t be used as much.
- Natasha - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

first, tell everybody how it can really pollute the earth and then if it doesnt work, like if people dont stop using it, make it a law.
- Sophie - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I honestly think that Global Warming is the biggest problem now. Everyone keeps wondering why the ozone layer is getting thinner. It is because people are smoking, trains, gasoline, the list could go on and on. We need to stop causing second hand smoking!
- Maggie - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I would stop selling gasoline cars, sell biodiesiel cars and stop selling normal gasoline and sell biodiesel fuel.
- Dyllen - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

i think maybe to reach that goal we should do what everyone should do, dont use cars as much, walk, ride bikes, carpool more often. if we walked or rode bikes then we would help save the world and we would stay fit. and if more ppl did ride bikes or walk then there wouldnt be as much lazy ppl
- Taylor - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

All cars should run ethanol. I think this would be an improvement because it would help people save money and the environment would be much safer, cleaner and fresher.
- Taylor - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

The world leaders should make all new cars with motors that run on recycled products. It would be better for the Earth.
- Madisson - Age: 9 - From AUSTRALIA

All cars should not run fully on gas and recycling should be the law.
- Charles - Age: 14 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think that is wonderful because the greenhouse gas can make a bad in improvement in the future.
- Sharika - Age: 10 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

If I could talk to the Nation's leaders I would tell them to mabe get the point across to use less water and ride a bicycle and walk as much as you can! I would also ask if there should be more examples for "going green" like putting power saving light bulbs and less gas comsumption in the White House.
- Abby - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

well i think that the price of the gas stations is going higher every week i think that shouldnt be happening but if its like that then what can we do.
- Michelle - Age: 15 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I would tell them to encourage everybody to carpool and take public transportation.
- Jenny - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

Everyone should have a day without driving to see if that can help.
- Abbie - Age: 12 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I think they should tell everyone how we can help.
- Jan - Age: 11 - From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)
