Teachers -
Students in classrooms everywhere can join in KidsCom.com's Find a Key Pal Program. Just follow the four steps below and your students soon can be learning about cultures across the country or around the world.
Step 1
Make sure your students have an e-mail address. We recommend a separate e-mail address for each student.
You can use a single school address for all the children, but you then may want to set up a system to distinguish incoming e-mail so it can be directed to the correct child. For example, you may want to have your students tell their Key Pal to include their first name in the subject line of the e-mail to help you route it.
If your school doesn't provide individual e-mail addresses for your students, you can sign up for free, Web-based e-mail services such as Hotmail (http://www.hotmail.com) or Yahoo (http://www.yahoo.com).
Step 2
Have your students register with KidsCom.com and check the box for Key Pals.
Our registration form has a separate section where the parent can check to indicate they give their child permission to join the Find a Key Pal Program.
Please make sure that each child's registration form has this box checked and that the permission form is signed by that child's parent or legal guardian.
Click here to go to the KidsCom.com registration permission form.
We recommend that you print out one copy of the form and then photocopy it. Distribute it to your class and have their parent or legal guardian sign it. Make sure the parent has checked the Find a Key Pal permission box.
Step 3
Once your students have these completed, send the forms to us. You can either fax them to 414.271.2728 (in the U.S.) or mail them to:
KidsCom.com Kid Registration
Circle 1 Network
131 W. Seeboth Street
Milwaukee, WI 53204
If you have a large class we recommend sending them together through the mail. Once we have the signed permission forms, we will add your students to the Find a Key Pal Program. When they have been added, they will receive an e-mail letting them know how to activate their registration and search for a Key Pal. We also will send an e-mail to the parent/legal guardian to let them know that their child is all set to start.
Step 4
Enjoy and learn! We hope this will be a fun and educational experience for you and your class. Be sure to let us know how things go (send e-mail to staff@kidscom.com).
